Once a professor told us that “Well-educated people are those who are capable of being impressed by the statistical data.” I was greatly moved by his words. Definitely, numbers talk. Numbers convince us more than any other tools since most scholars create theories or assumptions by using statistical data. In other words, the development of Statistics contributes a lot on the growth of various studies and raises the standard of living. For instance, in a medical area, the effectiveness of a newly invented medicine can be proven by the statistical data. The more accurate the raw data & the procedure of the data analysis, the higher chance that patients can take advantage of the medicine. In that sense, the importance of the statistics cannot be more emphasized and it will be meaningful to review the history of Statistics.
