Moore’s proof of the external world can be a final proof, but it requires further proofs about its premises. Moore’s argument for the external world can be specified with three premises and one conclusion. Moore lifts his hands and says “these are my hands.” This proves the existence of external things ? mainly, his hands. The external world is where external things are. Therefore, the external world exists.
Moore defines his proof as a conclusive and vigorous proof for the external world. According to him, a vigorous proof should satisfy three standards. First, the premise should be different from the conclusion. Second, one should know that the premise is true. Third, the conclusion should follow from the premise. He says his proof is a vigorous proof, because its premises are different from its conclusion and he intuitively knows that the premises are true and the structure of his proof is valid.
