At Technology, Science and Communication lecture, I learned that the relationship between society and science. Through the lecture I saw many cases that show the relationship such as bicycle and automobile. The cases told me that science and society has very intimate relationship and also black-box of the relation. Science could influence on society, and also society could influence on science. In this essay, let me consider relationship in GATTACA, the film in 1997 and black-box in the film.
First, science could influence on society. Since people can recognize personal genetic information, they can classify superior person and inferior person. In the movie they express that ‘valid’ and ‘invalid’, especially in company ‘GATTACA’. As the technology was developed, there occurs new hierarchy of the society. In society, there always exists hierarchy such as aristocracy and plebeian, the rich and the poor, but People can solve the hierarchy problems in many ways like revolution. However, in case of GATTACA, it is hard to solve the hierarchical problems. In general, hierarchy was just influenced on the tradition and social atmosphere, but in the case of GATTACA, advance of technology made the hierarchy.
