본문내용
Introduction
This essay addresses the question of whether it is ethically acceptable to provide the surgery for Wright and other individuals who appear to possess the capacity and understanding to give a valid consent. I will argue that this is morally justifiable. I will firstly explore the principle of respect for autonomy and enrich the significance of it. Then I will explicate how healthcare professionals may influence a rational agent during the decision-making process and demonstrate why such practices can be ethically detrimental. Ultimately, I will conclude that providing the surgery for Wright and other individuals concerned upon their autonomous decision is ethically acceptable because autonomy should be considered the utmost crucial value which cannot be overridden by undefendable paternalism.
Respect for autonomy
Many philosophers contend that autonomy is where the human dignity and basic human rights stem from and therefore it thoroughly deserves respect.
