This paper examines from a bibliographical aspect a number of matters regarding the Yeoyudangjip held by the Yonsei University Library.Yonsei University's Yeoyudangjip is a single-volume manuscript containing the poetry and prose of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong as well as the poetry and prose of Dasan's brother Jeong Yak-jeon. The writings of Dasan are known to have been sorted and compiled by Dasan himself after his release from exile. Yonsei University's Yeoyudangjip has different format characteristics from the format of the Gajang Manuscript compiled by Dasan in his later years and does not belong to the class of handwritten editions produced between Dasan and his students. The contents of this particular volume are in the order of Yeoyudangjip, Yeoyudangsijip, Works of Ui, and Gwanmunseo; Yeoyudangjip is composed of nine letters to Dasan's brother Jeong Yak-jeon and one piece of Japseol (Idle Talk), with Jeong Yak-jeon's writing on Japseol included as a supplement. Dasan's work and Jeong Yak-jeon's poetry are contained together in Yeoyudangsijip. Works of Ui contain 3 of Dasan's Ui pieces, together with Jeong Yak-jeon's Songjeongsa-ui. The three pieces of Gwanmunseo are documents related to Heuksando, where Jeong Yak-jeon lived his life of exile. When the text details are compared with those of Yeoyudangjeonseo, phrases from substantial portions of the Yonsei University version of Yeoyudangjip are abbreviated in Yeoyudangjeonseo, and there are large differences in the written characters. On the other hand, there are also instances where the phrases in Yeoyudangjeonseo are omitted in the Yonsei University version. From this we can garner that in the process of passing down Dasan's writings there existed a different manuscript which was accepted in the compilation of Yeoyudangjeonseo.
This Yonsei University version of Yeoyudangjip appears to have been compiled by a person with a close relationship with both Jeong Yak-yong and Jeong Yak-jeon during their periods of exile. This book will be helpful in the research of Dasan's life and works, as well as in understanding the process of passing down Dasan's writings, because, in addition to containing Jeong Yak-jeon's poetry, it shows substantial differences between the works of Jeong Yak-yong as they are presented in it and as they were published in the later generation as the Yeoyudangjeonseo version.
