한국어 초록

본 논문은 조선시대 명필 추사 김정희의 한글서간에 나타나는 서예적 조형미를 변천사적 측
면에서 시기별로 분석한 서예 분야의 연구이다.
이 연구는 추사가 33세 부터 59세 까지 27년간 대구, 평양 감영에서, 제주도 유배지에서 서울
장동과 충남 예산에 있는 부인과 며느리에게 쓴 34편(보유편 6종)의 한글서간을 대상으로 하
였다. 그 중 연령별로 20편을 선정하여 표 13개와 그림 12개를 작성하여 서간문장의 장법적
특징, 어휘문자의 조형적 특징, 결구법적 특징 등 3분야에 걸쳐 시기별로 분석, 고찰한 것을
요약하면 다음과 같다.
장법적 특징은, 유배 전 서간보다 유배 후의 서간문장의 장법미는 유창한 멋이 적었다. 연면
적 조형미의 특징은, 30대, 40대 연결문자는 강하고 굵은 선으로 나타나 유려한 연면체의 특
징이 보였으며, 50대 후반은 연결선이 짧아지고 단절성의 특징이 보였다. 그러나 전반적인 추
사 한글서간 어휘 연결문자는 다른 일반 서간보다 연면적 서선이 많아 역동성이 뛰어남을 알
수 있다. 결구적 특징을 보면, 전체 음절 중 대표적인 645자를 집자하여 분석한 결과 초중성
합자는 50대 초반 글씨가 50대 후반 글씨보다 연면적 조형미를 볼 수 있으며, 초중종성합자
는 30, 40대는 조화로운 표현, 역동적 표현의 활기찬 운필, 문자간의 연결성의 자연스러움을,
50대 후반의 글씨는 필단의련의 단절성 조형미가 보여 추사의 한글서간은 시기별로 조형적
특징이 나타나면서도 전체적인 조형미가 뛰어난 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 널리 알려진대로
추사가 일찍부터 종비입진(從碑入晉)적 학풍을 연마한 결과가 50대 중반 이후부터 나타나고
있음을 알게 해주며, 한문서예뿐만 아니라 한글서간에도 동시에 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다.
따라서 대 명필이 쓴 한글서간체는 추사의 한문서간 서체의 변천과 거의 동일 하였으며, 조
형성이 뛰어나 학문적, 사회적, 모범서체 활용성, 디자인 및 폰트개발, 교육용으로 활용 할 가
치가 큰 것으로 분석되었다.

영어 초록

This study aims to analyze the figurative features of calligraphy written in
the Hangeul (Korean Alphabet) letters of Chusa Jeonghee Kim, a master
calligrapher of Joseon Dynasty, by period from the aspect of historical changes.
Thirty four letters (in six possessed types) written to his wife and daughter-in-law
who lived in Seoul and Chungnam, for 27 years - aged from 33 to 59 were
examined in the study. Twenty of them written at different ages were selected and
thirteen tables and twelve illustrations were created based on the result of the
periodical analysis on three areas: the characteristics of sentences in the letters, the
figurative characteristics of vocabulary characters in each letter, and the structural
attributes of characters in each letter. The result is shown as follows: The
characteristics of sentences show that the features of sentences in the letters
written during his exile were less sophisticated than before. The connecting
figurative beauty presents strong and thick lines with an elegant cursive style in
the connecting characters in his thirties and forties while those written in his late
fifties include shorter and discontinued connecting lines. However, the vocabulary
connecting characters in his Hangeul letters generally have more outstanding
dynamics than other letters thanks to more connecting line strokes. The result on
the structural analysis of the exemplary 645 syllabic characters shows that the
figurative attributes of the initial, medial, and final combinations in his early fifties
have more connecting figurative beauty than those written in his late fifties. The
figurative structure of these combinations during his thirties and forties well
express the harmonization, the dynamic oblique-line strokes and the natural
connection between characters whereas the writing in his late fifties shows the
figurative features of discontinuity of Pildanuiryeo That is, they show periodic
changes in terms of figurative attributes and yet have an excellent overall
figurative beauty. This implies that, as widely known, the influence of his learning
the academic tradition of Jongbiipjin style is reflected from his mid 50s and on in
his calligraphy of Chinese characters as well as in the Hangeul letters. Therefore,
his Hangeul letters was nearly identical to the changes of his Chinese letters.
They are believed to be greatly applied both in academic and social areas, used
as an exemplary handwriting style, help developing design and fonts and have a
great potential for educational utilization.
