이 연구의 목적은 일정 지역 선정의 제한과 소수의 연구 대상을 이용한 연구 설계 및 운동관련 체력요인 간의
차이 비교에만 치중하였던 선행연구의 제한점을 보완하고자 수도권과 지방권 초등학교 아동들을 대상으로 체육
활동 활성화 전개를 위한 ‘운동하는 초등학생’의 건강관련체력과 비만의 관련성을 밝히고자 하였다. 연구대상은
수도권과 지방권 4개 시․도 초등학교 각 2개교, 총 8개교(333명)의 초등학생 아동의 건강관련체력평가 측정 기록
을 토대로 실시하였고, 초등학교 5, 6학년 아동을 대상으로 비만에 따른 NYC %Fat 수준별 건강관련체력의 차이
를 알아보기 위하여 two-way ANOVA, MANOVA 분석을 실시하였다. 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 초등학교 학년별 아동 모두 NYC %Fat 마른 집단의 기록이 가장 좋은 것으로 나타났으며, NYC %Fat 집단
간에는 유연성을 제외한 모든 건강관련체력 요인에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초등학교 지역별 아동
중 수도권 학생은 NYC %Fat 비만 집단이, 지방권 학생은 NYC %Fat 마른 집단의 기록이 가장 좋은 것으로 나
타났으며, NYC %Fat 집단 간에는 근력과 근지구력 요인에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, NYC %Fat 수준
별 초등학교 아동들의 집단 특성에 따라 건강관련체력 하위 요인 간에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

영어 초록

This study aims to find out the relevance between health-related physical fitness and obesity in elementary
students who work out with a view to boosting physical activities. In order to deal with the limitations of
studies focusing on comparing differences between exercise-related physical fitness factors and those designed
to use a small number of subjects and limited to certain local communities, the present study selected groups
in both the capital and local areas. For the purpose of this study, health-related physical fitness test
measurement records of 333 elementary students attending a total of 8 schools (2 schools from each of 4
capital and local areas) were examined. Also, to elucidate the differences in NYC %Fat depending on degrees
of obesity in 5th and 6th graders, this study presented means and standard deviations, and conducted
two-way ANOVA and Multivariate Analysis of Variance(MANOVA). The findings here are as follows: First,
regarding the comparative analysis of the differences in sub-factors constituting the health-related physical
fitness between groups of different NYC %Fat levels in each grade of elementary students, the records of the
non-obese group in terms of NYC %Fat were found most positive in both 5th and 6th graders. According to
the analysis of variance concerning any difference between groups based on NYC %Fat within a grade, a
significant difference was found in cardiopulmonary endurance capabilities, a sub-factor of the health-related
physical fitness. Second, in regard of the comparative analysis of any differences in sub-factors constituting the
health-related physical fitness between groups of elementary students based on NYC %Fat in each area, the
most positive records were found in NYC %Fat obese group of students in the capital area, and NYC %Fat
non-obese group of students in the local area. According to the analysis of variance concerning any
differences between groups of different NYC %Fat levels within an area, only the students in the capital area
showed differences in muscular strength, a sub-factor of the health-related physical fitness. Third, the analysis
of any differences in NYC %Fat group characteristics in each sub-factor of health-related physical fitness
showed that the group characteristics of elementary students based on NYC %Fat led to differences in
sub-factors of the health-related physical fitness. Specifically, it was cardiopulmonary endurance capability sub
factor of the health-related physical fitness that was explained to the greatest extent by independent variables
and that had the greatest influence on the health-related physical fitness depending on the group
characteristics of elementary students in terms of NYC %Fat among dependent variables
