이 연구는 정교화 교수설계에 의한 논증 활동 교수학습을 과학수업에 구현한 후 과학교육의 목적인 사고력과 학업성취도 차원에서 그 효과성을 규명하고자 하였다. 먼저 C. M. Reigeluth가 제시한 정교화 교수설계이론을 토대로 과학적 논증 활동을 촉진하기 위한 개념 모형을 도출하였다. 이어서 초등과학 6학년 1학기 정규교육과정운영 틀에서 논증 활동을 위한 정교화 교수설계를 하고 수업을 하였다. 연구대상은 인천광역시에 소재한 초등학교 6학년 학생들 중 2개 학급 53명이었다.연구결과 첫째, 정교화 교수설계에 의한 과학적 논증 활동 교수학습은 기존 교수학습 방식보다 사고력 신장의 측면에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 정교화 교수설계에 의한 과학적 논증 활동 교수학습은 학업성취도 분석 결과 특히 개념과 원리 영역에서 유의한 차이를 보였다. 정교화 교수설계에 의한 논증 활동 교수학습은 사고력 신장이라는 과학교육 추세를 고려할 때 교육현장에 유용하므로 특히 사고 기능과 탐구과정 등에 초점을 둔 보다 다양한 교수설계 연구가 요청된다.

영어 초록

Instructional design theories as one of core areas in educational technology field purport toimprove effectiveness, efficiency and appeal of the instruction. A variety of instructional designtheories being proposed so far, most of them have focused on development of the theory itselfwith less efforts on systematic verification. The study, in this vein, tried to verify theeffectiveness of 'Elaboration Theory' in terms of logical thinking and academic achievement inelementary science instruction.A conceptual model was drawn to facilitate argumentation based on the elaboration theoryestablished by C. M. Reigeluth. Then, instructional design for argumentation activities and aninstruction were conducted within the framework of regular elementary science curriculum forthe first semester of 6th gncee. The participants of the study were 53 pupils from two classesof the 6th grade of an Elementary School in a metropolitan city.The findings of the study were as follows:First, the instruction for argumentation activities according to the elaboration theory indicatedstatistically significant difference in terms of logical thinking ability improvement. Second,multivariate analysis of variance on the academic achievement by evaluation criteria showed that the instruction for argumentation activities according to the elaboration theory revealedstatistically significant difference especially in terms of concept and principle contents.
