본 연구는 제 7차 사회과 교육과정에 담겨 있는 세계교육 내용을 Kniep가 제시한 사회과 교육과정
의 교육목표와 지도내용을 준거로 비교․분석하는데 중점을 두고 있다.
연구 대상과 방법은 초등학교의 사회과 교육과정과 교과서(사회과 탐구)를 대상으로, 내용분석법을
활용하되 비교분석법과 양적분석법 및 질적분석법을 종합적으로 활용하였다.
연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 제 7차 사회과 교육과정은 교과목표를 ‘지식’, ‘기능․능력’, ‘가치․태도’의 영역으로 구분하여
Kniep가 제시한 ‘지식’, ‘능력’, ‘가치’, ‘사회 참여’의 목표를 내용상 포괄적으로 담고 있다. 그러나
Kniep는 ‘사회 참여’ 영역의 목표를 별도로 설정하여 일반 교과의 목표영역과 차별화하고 있다.
둘째, 7차 사회과 교육과정은 그 영역을 지리, 역사, 사회생활 영역으로 설정하고 있으나 교과운영
은 통합화하고 있다. 이를 Kniep의 사회과 교육과정의 영역과 관련지어 보면, ‘지리’는 ‘인간 가치’ 영
역과, ‘역사’는 ‘세계 역사’ 영역과, ‘사회생활’은 ‘지구사회적 시스템’ 영역과 성격을 같이하고 있으나
Kniep는 ‘지구사회적 이슈와 문제’ 영역을 별도로 설정하고 있는 점에 차이가 있다.
셋째, 사회과 교과서의 ‘학습할 내용’ 중에서 세계교육 관련 내용은 37개이다. 이를 학년별로 살펴보
면 3학년은 관련 내용이 없고, 4학년은 5개, 5학년은 7개, 6학년이 25개(67.5%)로 6학년에서 집중적으
로 다루어지고 있다.
또한 내용에 있어서는 ‘문화’와 ‘상호의존성’에 관련되는 내용이 26개로 70.2%를 차지하고 있는데,
이들 내용의 핵심이 우리 고장, 지역, 국가의 존재와 이익을 전제로 한 다른 고장, 지역, 국가와의 ‘관
계’를 다루고 있다.
따라서 지구사회적 관점에서 볼 때, 차후 교육과정 개정시에는 지구촌 사회의 이슈와 문제, 지구촌
사회에서의 개인․국가의 역할 등 세계화 시대에 걸맞는 내용들을 더욱 비중있게 다룰 필요가 있다고
본다.

영어 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents of Global education of the 7th
Social Studies curriculum on the basis of the educational goals and contents of social
studies presented by W. M. Kniep. Elementary school social studies curriculum and
textbook('Social Studies Inquiry") are used as the objects of this study, and comparative
analysis, quantitative analysis, and qualitative analysis are used with contents analysis as
research method.
The results of this analysis are as follows.
First of all, the goals of the 7th Social Studies curriculum are divided into
"knowledge","function", "value" and "attitude" which include comprehensively the goals of
"knowledge", "ability","value", "social participation" suggested by Kniep. But Kniep created
the goals of "social participation" and differentiated it from the other goals.
Second, the 7th Social Studies curriculum set up three parts of contents- geography,
history social life but is operated integratedly.
Each part corresponds to Social studies curriculum of Kniep - geography to "human
values and cultures", history to "global history" and social life to "global systems" Kniep
made the contents of "global issues and problems"separate, though.
And in the aspects of main concepts, the 7th curriculum's "human and space"
corresponds with Kniep's "culture", "human and time" with "change", "human and society"
with "interdependence"and "scarcity and conflict".
Third, there are 37 items related to global education in Social Studies textbook's 'Things
to learn' section. More specifically by grade level, there is no item for third graders, 5 for
fourth, 7 for fifth, and 25 for sixth graders. Apparently, the topic is very much
concentrated on six grade's text book.
Also, there are 26 items related to 'culture' and 'interdependence', marked 70.2%. The
cores of these contents deal with other district, region, and country on the premise of the
existence and profits of our district, region, and country.
In conclusion, at the point of view of global perspectives, it is necessary to deal with
contents such as global issues and problems, and the role of individuals and countries in
global village with more importance to accord with the global period in the next revision
of curriculum
