1. Hierarchical structure of words and sentences.
* Hierarchical structure- Hierarchical structure is an essential property of human language.
→Words have component parts relate to each other in specific, rule-governed ways.
Tree diagrams make explicit internal the way speakers represent the structure of the morphologically complex words in their language.
1) Morphemes added in a fixed order; this order reflects the hierarchical structure of the word.
2) Morpheme has internal structures
Ex) un-(forming new adjective) system(root) – atic.
