FOR TESTING…?
There are two schools of thought on this issue, and emotions run hot when it is discussed. However, passionate though I am about my dogs, I feel that morally, we are, or should be bound to put humans first. We are different and superior to animals because of our conscience and intellect. Therefore, we deserve priority over them.
There are many people who wouldn’t be alive today if animal experimentation hadn’t taken place. As the wife and mother of a Type 1 Diabetic husband and son, I am well aware that hundreds of dogs died horribly in experiments to test and perfect insulin for use on humans. I have had to conclude that, precious though my animals are, I am morally bound to support the use of experimentation on animals.
Who knows…maybe someone saved in this way may live to make great discoveries that may benefit both man and animals.
