- Airfoil -
Introduction
Lift and drag vary according to the angle an airfoil makes with its direction of travel through a
fluid. This angle is known as angle of attack, angle of incidence, or alpha. In evaluating an airfoil it
is common to perform an alpha sweep that records the lift and drag of an airfoil at various angles.
The lift and drag are usually plotted as dimensionless quantities.
Objectives
This experiment is to know the angle of attack when the stall is occurred during flying in the air.
It can be revealed by increasing the angle of attack at the airfoil checking the angle and velocity
of the air flow on the airfoil
Airfoil
A fixed-wing aircraft's wings, horizontal, and vertical stabilizers are built with airfoil-shaped cross sections, as are helicopter rotor blades. Airfoils are also found in propellers, fans, compressors and turbines. Sails are also airfoils, and the underwater surfaces of sailboats, such as the centerboard and keel, are similar in cross-section and operate on the same principles as airfoils.
