체육활동의 활성화는 많은 체육인들뿐만 아니라 교육자, 그리고 부모들에게도 많은 관심의 대상이다. 그 동안 많은 연구와 정책 제안이 제시되고 있지만 정작 학생들의 체육활성화와 그 실효성에 있어서 피부적으로 다가오지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이처럼 아동과 청소년에게 스포츠를 참여하도록 유도하고 관심을 갖게 하기 위해서는 스포츠참여자에게 내적요인과 외적요인을 만족시켜야한다.
스포츠 참여에 대한 내적, 외적요인에 대하여 Tinsley, H.E.A, Barrett, T.C, & Kass, R.A(1977)와 Crandall(1980)은 운동에 참여하고 싶은 욕구나 동기는 선천적인 요인과 초기 사회화 경험 그리고 자신의 사회화 환경과 상황에 영향을 받는다고 하였다. 또한 양명환(1994)은 스포츠 및 신체활동에 대한 참여 동기에 대하여 신체활동을 통하여 얻어지는 각종 혜택의 개인의 내적욕구와 시간, 경제적인 여유, 및 물리적 환경과 사회적 여건조성 등 외적욕구가 있다고 하였으며 이중 내적인 욕구의 중요성이 더 크다고 밝히고 있다. 따라서 스포츠에 참여하지 못하는 이유는 신체활동에 참여하는 운동참여자들에게 운동 스포츠에 대한 즐거움과 같은 내적요인과 운동참여에 대한 환경적인 외적요인을 제공 하지 못하기 때문이다. 따라서 운동 참여 동기에 대한 연구는 과거부터 현재까지 많은 관심을 가지고 있으며 지속적 연구가 수행되고 있다(Sapp & Haubenstricker, 1978; Gill, Gross & Huddleston, 1983; Gould, Feltz, Weiss & Petlichkoff, 1982; Scanlan, Ravizza & Stein, 1989; Ashford, Biddle & Goudas 1993; 양명환, 1994; 김병준, 1999; 김동건, 조민행 2002; 임종은 2007).

영어 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in the motive for participation in the Touch Rugby Football game practiced as club sports activity in the area of Goldcoast City, Queensland State, according to the socio-demographical characteristics of Australian primary schoolchildren. The questionnaire research was conducted for 164 schoolchildren. The effective sample size used for data was 140 persons except 24 persons poorly completing the questionnaire. This study employed such analytical methods as frequency analysis and factor analysis and Cronbach's α coefficient was calculated to test reliability and validity. And t-test and one-way analysis of variance were conducted. Scheff's test was conducted as post-morterm analysis. As a result, the following findings were obtained:
First, it was found that there was a difference in the motive for participation in club sports activity such as power, arousal, sucess, and aggression according to gender, and that there was the highest difference in excellence and affiliation.
Second, it was found that there was a difference in the motive for participation in club sports activity such as excellence, power, and independence according to school years and that the schoolchildren below the fifth grade had the higher motive for participation in sports than those in 6th-7th grades.
Third, it was found that there was a difference in the motive for participation in club sports activity such as excellence, power, arousal, and affiliation according to age, and that younger schoolchildren had the higher motive for participation.
Fourth, it was found that there was a difference in the motive for participation in club sports activity such as excellence, power, arousal, sucess, and aggression according to their parents' motive for participation sports activity and that the schoolchildren with parents participating in club sports had the higher motive for participation than those with parents not participating in club sports.
Fifth, it was found that the respondents had the high motive for participation in club sports activity according to the hours of participation in sports for one day in every motive factors except independence as they had the longer participation time.
