소개글
오늘날 교회는 이단의 시대 속에서 매우 긴장된 상태를 맞이하고 있다. 정보화 시대 속에서 인터넷이나 매스컴을 통해 이단들의 활동은 극에 달해 있는 실정이다. 이단의 교세가 확장되어 많은 피해가 교회 안과 밖을 가리지 않고 많이 일어나고 있다. 이들은 여러 많은 지식을 가지고 사람들을 현혹하여 피해를 주었다.교회를 이에 대한 대처방안이 필요하고 이단의 원인의 발생부터 차단함으로 더 이상 이단으로 인한 피해가 없도록 해야 할 것이다. 더욱이 안타까운 것은 이단피해가 교회 밖에서 만의 일이 아니고 교회 안에서 조직적, 계획적으로 활동하여 교회에 큰 혼란을 야기하기에 이르렀다. 이로써 교회는 큰 시험대 위에 올랐다고 본다. 교회의 대형화를 부르짖던 교회는 이제 건강한 교회로 거듭나는 기회로 삼아야 할 것이라고 본다.
이 연구의 목적은 국내에 발생하여 활동 중인 주요 이단을 알아보고 이단에 대한 대처방안과 이단의 발생요인을 파악하여 사전에 이단의 출현을 막도록 하고자 한다.

1)이단의 정의(1) 개념
어원적 의미: “말의 사전적인 의미를 살펴보면 ‘이단’이란 말에 해당하는 헬라어 ‘히이레시스’(αί́ρεσις)는 ‘선택한다’, ‘독자적 견해’ 등의 뜻을 함축하고 있다. 이 말이 행동적으로 사용될 때에는 ‘자유로운 선택’이란 뜻으로 많이 표현되었다. 이 말은 좋은 의미와 나쁜 의미 둘 다 사용되었으나 주로 나쁜 의미로 사용되는 경향으로 기울어 졌다(E. Dinkler). 하이레시스의 의미와 변천을 살펴 보자. 먼저 이 단어가 시대와 장소에 따라 사용되면서 그 의미가 변천된 것을 순서대로 요약하자면 ‘자유로운 선택’→‘독자적 견해’→‘학파’→‘종파’→‘편당’→‘이단’으로 표시할 수 있다.” 이처럼 이단적인 용어의 쓰임만 보더라고 그 규모가 점차적으로 확대되어 지는 것을 볼 수 있다.
(2) 특징
이단은 여러 특징이 있겠다. 다음으로 소개하는 8가지 이단의 특징은 어느 정도 이단의 특징에 대하여 일반적인 점을 소개하고자 한다.
① 이단은 처음의 주장과 그 끝이 다르다. 이단(異端)의 뜻이 ‘끝이 다르다’ 이거니와 이단은 사람을 미혹하기 위하여 표면에 그럴 뜻한(?) 주장을 내세우는 바 이러한 주장과 그 결과에는 엄청난 차이가 있다.
② 성경와 절대권을 부정한다. “ 성경은 미음과 행위에 있어서 정확무오한 하나님의 말씀임에도 이를 인정치 않고 교조(혹은 교주)의 책이나 주장을 통하여 성경을 재해석한다.
③ 교조를 절대화 혹은 신격화 시킨다 : 몬타누스 (Montanus, 주후 3세기)가 자신을 ‘은혜와 성령의 도관(導管)’이라 주장한 것처럼 이단은 거의 교조를 카리스마화 한다.
