Oracle Corporation was founded by Larry Ellison, Robert Miner, Edward Oates, and Bruce Scott under name Software Development Laboratories in 1977 to build a commercial database management system for IBM mainframe computers. The project which it code-named Oracle was developed by Ellison and his partners. Oracle went public on March 15, 1986. After this, revenues were dramatically increased from $55 million in 1986 to $584 million in 1989 and the company became the one of the largest independent software producers in the world, employing more than 4000 people in 24 countries. In this summary, I’d like to talk about the products, strategies, vision of Oracle Corporation.
First, I will talk about the products of Oracle Corporation. Oracle enjoyed tremendous market and industry growth in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, Oracle reported a $15 million loss on $240 million in revenues.
