<The Pianist>, set in World War II, is called a ‘masterpiece’ that boasts a huge scale and perfect reproduction of historical sites. The director of this film, Roman Polanski, is a sex offender with 12 victims. All but one of the victims were minors, and he also used alcohol and drugs to commit the sexual assault. In the end, Polanski was permanently expelled from the Academy in 2019, and protests against the award occurred when he won the Best Director Award at the César Film Festival. However, the evaluation of the movie <The Pianist> is still mixed.
