본문내용
“One-Drop Rule”: Most Americans are familiar with the “one-drop rule,”also called the law of hypodescent, which classified interracial persons as black if they have any African ancestors, however distant in history and however few in number.
Mulatto: (This is for the mixed person) This is a term originally used to refer to a person who is born from one black parent and one white parent; more broadly, it refers to a person of mixed white and black ancestry in any proportion. The term derives from the Spanish and Portuguese mulato, which comes from mula(from Latin term), meaning mule(노새), the hybrid offspring of a horse and a donkey. Contemporary usage of the term is generally confined to situations in which the term is considered relevant in a historical context as it is largely viewed as perjorative. The plural is spelled “Mulattoes” and the female equivalent is “Mulatta.”But the people of mixed ancestry are more properly refered to as “multiracial” and “briacial.”
