1. Set up the modules.
2. Adjust the channel A controls on the Dual Function Generator as follows:
3. Connect the 10kHz modulating signal to channel 1 of the oscilloscope, and measure its peak-to-peak amplitude.
4. Disconnect the Frequency Counter and connect the AM/DSB output to channel 2 of the oscilloscope. Measure the peak-to-peak amplitude of the carrier.
5. Using the values obtained in steps 2 and 4, determine the percentage modulation that should be obtained for the AM signal.
6. Use a BNC T-connector and a BNC/BNC cable to connect the modulating signal to the AUDIO INPUT on the AM generator.
7. Place the oscilloscope in the X-Y mode to obtain a trapezoidal pattern like Figure 2-9. Set the oscilloscope controls to obtain the largest usable display.
8. Use the trapezoidal pattern to obtain modulation percentages of 20, 33 and 75% by varying the level of the modulating signal. Record the values of A and B. Note that the equation relating m to A and B can be used to determine the relative values needed for A and B as shown in the example below.
