본문내용
The early Greek sculptures exhibited geometric forms. They also contained in them, abstract patterns. Although they were very similar to standard Egyptian format, with contained body with the whole figure facing forward, there were substantial differences. The Greeks started to employ motion, unbound by the block of stone which they were created from. The second significance was that the sculptures were nude. The sculptors started to represent the anatomical features more accurately. As a whole, the Greeks started to liberate the sculptures from their rigid form, in order to make them more natural.
This attempt at naturalization heightened with the sculpture Kritios Boy. While the unsmiling face of the figure exhibit seriousness, it does not look forced. This is partly due to the realistic translation of the human figure and the slightly turned head. Unless one is military personnel, one would not look directly forward.
