1. Southwest was founded a group of Texas investors, including Rollin King, M. Lamar Muse, and Herbert D. Kelleher in 1966.
2. Southwest has become the largest domestic airline in the United States, by number of passengers carried.
The Company has 548 Boeing 737 aircraft serving 69 cities in 35 states throughout the United States.
More than 70 million passengers take SWA each year to about 60 destinations around the country.
3. Southwest is Best Low Cost Airline, Best Customer Service in the United States.
Southwest’s marketing positioned the airline as fun, with low prices that allowed frequent, convenient travel.
From the beginning, its advertising was playful, often fun at the competition and emphasizing its low-price and convenience.
