We are all human beings. However, we all have different thoughts, values, and philosophies in our lives. This is simply called ‘personality’ which makes people behave in different ways. This distinctive feature that only human beings have creates diversity rather than uniformity. The diversity forms our society. However, some sociological issues arise when people recognize the diversity or differences but do not accept either of them. Any kind of inequality such as hierarchy of the society, racism, and gender inequality are major issues derived from this sociological phenomenon. Although, the short story The Wife of His Youth by Charles Chesnutt and Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser were written at other times and in other geographical areas, the message that both writers wanted to convey is same: inequality and its` dark side.
