History of Immigration in the USA
America is the country of immigration. The Europeans such as English puritans, the Dutch, England people and Spanish were the first immigrants. At the same time, the African Black people were forced to move to America as the Europeans` slaves for their needs. Also, Asians like Chinese and Japanese were sold because of their cheap cost of labor instead of black people after emancipation of slaves. They were called coolies and did arduous jobs.

America is said to be a melting pot of races. All people who wanted to get freedom of policy and religion also to get economic chances move to the USA. Especially from 1892 to 1924 the number of immigrants hit the top. US government established the immigration processing center in Ellis Island. It opened from 1892 to 1954 and more than 12,000,000 people passed and entered America through this island. America accepted more than 49,000,000 immigrants from 1820 to 1979.
