How do you feel about that I would rather be a cool single than shabby double by Helen Gurley Brown who was selected one of most influential twenty five persons by “Time” – American news journal -. As she said before, the proportion of single people had rapidly increased from 4.8% in 1980 to 20% in 2005 in Korea. Especially, women’s average marriage age was 29.3 in 2008. A Television show about “Gold Miss” – high earning single women – was a hit. However, the increasing number of single women is sensitive matter relating to the birth rates. Why have women put off marriage or intends not marry? There are three reasons for this; change of women’s marriage values, improvement of women’s economic independence, problems with expenses.
First of all, women’s marriage values have changed. Today’s women – especially well educated professionals – think that single life is better than traditional married life.
