The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among extroversion level, language anxiety, online learning participation, and academic achievement for elementary students in South Korea. 160 3rd
grade students participated in the study, and path analysis was employed to validate the proposed model
and analyze the causal relationships among variables. As a result, the proposed model was acceptable with
a good fit, and there were significant direct and indirect effects of paths in the model. That is,
extroversion level had a direct influence on language anxiety, and online learning participation and
language anxiety directly affected academic achievement. Moreover, extroversion level of learners have
indirect effects on academic achievement through the mediation of language anxiety. The result implies
that learns' extroversion level needs to have serious consideration when we design a blended learning for
foreign language, and a customized instructional strategy is needed to reduce language anxiety, extend
learns' online learning participation and to improve academic achievement. These results may provide a
practical guideline to implement a blended learning method for K-12 students.
