본문내용
1955 system refers to a party system where two political factions, Japan Socialist Party (JSP) and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), confronted each other. It is also commonly known as one and a half party system due to LDP’s dominance in the National Diet, and practically LDP's factions had control over the political world. Since a proletarian party became legalized after the Pacific War, while the Socialist Party or the Communist Party was established, a conservative party was as well. Social Democratic Party of Japan got divided into the left and the right on peace treaty with US, the U.S.A-Japan Security Treaty and Japan and national security in 1951. Both announced their candidacy for election separately and each got the huge number of seats because of the medium constituency system. However, the left and the right of Social Democratic Party of Japan got back together to fight against the reverse course and constitutional changes by Japan Communist Party.
