한국어 초록

옛 아이들 노래를 오늘 아이들에게 돌려주는 길 찾기는 가장 먼저 아이들은 누구이고 아이들에게 노래란 무엇인가 라는 문제에 깊이 천작해야 한다. 이처럼 아이들이란 존재에 대한 단단한 이해를 바탕으로 아이들 노래의 문제로 넘어가야 마땅하다. 아이들 노래의 보존과 전승 및 계승 그리고 창조는 모두 필요하다. 아이들 노래를 새롭게 창조하려면 아이들 노래의 보존과 전승 및 계승에 고루 관심을 기울여야 한다. 아이들 노래의 보존에 힘쓰는 경우도 마찬가지다. 그러나 보존된 옛 아이들 노래를 오늘 아이들과 어떻게 만날 것인가는 쉽지 않은 일이다. 여기에 전승과 계승, 창조를 염두에 둔 보존의 논리가 있어야 한다.
한편, 앞서 나온 아이들 노래 음반이나 도서를 살펴본 결과 뚜렷한 발전적 흐름을 만들지 못하고 한발 앞으로 나갔다가 다시 뒤로 한발 물러서는 반복이 되풀이 되고 있었다. 이렇게 될 수밖에 없는 뿌리 깊은 까닭이 무엇인지 살펴보았더니, 첫 번째, 창작하시는 분들이 본디 아이들 노래의 원형에 대한 접근을 과감하게 시도하지 않기 때문이었다. 원형을 모르니 끝없는 혼란에 빠질 수밖에 없는 상황이 지금까지 되풀이 되는 것이다. 우리 구비문학이 함께하거나 거들 수 있는 대목이다. 두 번째는 아이들 노래라는 것이 새롭게 창작하기에 앞서 수많은 시간의 검증을 거쳐 오늘에 이른 ‘완성태’라는 것을 인식하지 못한 까닭에 너무나 쉽게 손을 대는 태도의 문제이다.
세 번째는 앞서도 길게 이야기했던 놀이를 모르는 까닭이다. 네 번째는 한국음악 전공자들은 아이들 노래를 가다듬는 일을 크게 의미 있는 일로 생각하지 않고, 서양음악 전공자들은 아이들 노래와 세계에 대한 깊은 천착 없이 자신들이 익숙한 음악 문법에 따라 아이들 노래를 만들기 때문이다. 다섯 번째 가장 큰 까닭은 아이들의 예술 세계에 대한 이해와 존중이 부족한 까닭이다. 아이들은 노래의 수용자가 아닌 창조자라는 것을 지나친 때문이다.

In finding a way to return children’s songs of old times to today’s children, the first thing to do is to dig into the questions of who children are and what meanings songs have to children. It is reasonable to proceed to the question of children’s songs based on clear understanding of the existence of children. The preservation, transmission, succession and creation of children’s songs are all necessary. To create children’s songs, it is also necessary to pay attention to the preservation, transmission and succession of children’s songs. The same is true for efforts to preserve children’s songs. However, it is not easy to help today’s children enjoy children’s songs of old times. Here, it is needed to establish a logic of preservation that considers transmission, succession and creation.
Meanwhile, the examination of the discs and books related to previous children’s songs shows that there has not been any conspicuous flow of development, only repeating one step forward and then one step backward. What are the root causes of such a situation?
First, song writers did not try to make a brave approach to the prototypes of children’s songs. Without knowing the prototypes, you cannot but get into a confusion repeatedly. This is an area in which our folklore literatures can help or go together.
Second, children’s songs represent ‘complete forms’ which have gone through thorough verification of time and some writers easily attempt to create songs without recognizing such a fact before writing.
Third, song writers do not understand plays, which has been discussed in depth in the above.
Fourth, those who major in Korean music do not regard it greatly meaningful to refine children’s songs while those who major in Western music tend to create children’s songs according to their musical grammar to which they are accustomed without deep understanding of the songs and the world of children.
Fifth, the most important reason is that song writers lack understanding and respect for the artistic world of children. They neglect the fact that children are song creators, not song receivers.
