Purpose: The study was to investigate the effect of spiritual program on middle-aged women’s anxiety and stress.
Method: To verify the central question inherited in the study, 40 subjects were chosen from S city, and responded to
survey sheets from 2011.08.02 to 2012.01.28. For measurement of anxiety level, we used Zung(1971)’s Self-rating
anxiety scale, SAS, translated by Lee(1996). On the other hand, for measurement of stress level, we utilized the stress
scale developed by Park(1999). Data collected was interpreted by real number and percentage for general characteristics,
and by t-test to see the effect of spiritual program on anxiety and stress.
Result: In pre- and post-test, anxiety level of middle-aged women were found to be decreased from 1.32 to 1.58 in
average, and stress level were more so from 1.86 to 1.49 in average.
Conclusion: In sum, using spiritual program, subjects were found to be alert to their inherited nature and insight from
anxious and stressful situation to be able to cope with diversity of possible situations of reality.
