Carbon/carbon composites were delveloped using PAN based carbon finers and phenolic resin as matrix in different volume fractions and heat treated to temperatures 1000℃ to 2500℃.
Athough both the starting precursirs are non0graphitizing hard carbons individually, their conposites lead to very intersting properites e.g.x-ray diffractograms show the development of graphitic phase for composites having fiber vlium fractions of 30~40%.
