Specifically, Atkins diet can affects the level of cholesterol in the body. The level of cholesterol affects the heart problems. Most of the cholesterol that affects heart problem is LDL called bad cholesterol. In the book “Preventive Medicine”, author says through the long research “Even independent of the effects on obesity, meat consumption itself has been related to an increased risk of coronary heart disease” (3). Even if the weight loss is the effect of the diet, fat and cholesterol will stay in the body and make more problems. Actually that means the diet is not effective on burning fat, but losing water. The cholesterol level will not change in short term diet but the level will increase time goes by and someday they will find they got problems with the heart.
