본문내용
1. Morphology.
Morphology is the study of word formation.
Morphology is the study about the structure or organization of words into morphemes
2. Morpheme.
A smallest meaningful unit
3. Morpheme을 확인하는 방법(4 Points to note about morpheme)
① Morphemes are distinct from syllable. One morpheme can be realized 4 syllables (Morpheme 와 Syllable은 다르다.)
ex) alligator(하나의 형태소, 네 개의 음절) cats(두개의 형태소, 하나의 음절)
② Identical spelling do not necessarily indicate identical morphemes.(동일 철자가 동일의미를 가지는 것은 아니다.)
ex)buyer(-er), shorter(-er)
③ 물론 위와같이 확연하게 나누어지는 경우(boys->boy+s girls->girl+s)도 있으나 그렇게 Morpheme가 나누어지지 않는 경우도 있다. (men=>{man}+{PLU}) (went=>{go}+{PAST})
④ The goal of morphological analysis is to determine the rules that speakers actually follow for forming words in a particular language.
=>A morpheme is a linguistic unit that is defined by a constant core meaning associated with a constant form.(음소라는 것은 하나의 핵심의미와 함께 작용하는 하나의 형태를 말한다.)
