This project was designed for 'EEE34110-1: Probability and Random Variables' class to evaluate on how well we understood the class material along with the ability of acquiring new concepts for each question assigned. The programming language MATLAB was used to implement the solutions when manual handwork was too much challenging. In the introduction section, we aim to explain the basic concepts each question asks us to do. When inserting MATLAB source codes, the MATLAB icon image was inserted beside it for clarification purposes.
Question 1, named Practical Engineering Problems, consists of two problems. The first problem is about setting clipping levels for speech signals. In communication system, it is important to prevent ‘clip’ from happening. So, our goal is to design a clipper that shows certain reliability. To determine some parameter, calculating the probability of clipping is required. The second problem is about Web Server Activity Modeling and Analysis.
