본문내용
John Steinbeck ends his novel The Grapes of Wrath with a rather unusual ending which describes a scene where a mature woman, Rose of Sharon, breastfeeds a grown man at a barn. This would normally be considered grotesque and bizarre in the modern world, but in the literary world, it is seen as a noble act of sharing, because of the circumstance that the characters are in. The grown man is about to die of starvation, and Rose of Sharon’s breast milk is the only source of nutrition for his survival.
