본문내용
China has population of 1.3 billion in 2010, which is the highest figure in the world. The country with many people seems to have many advantages than the country with few. However, in case of China, too many people became their problem, because more people mean they need more food to eat, and more houses to live. Its population grew from about 630 million to 880 million from 1957 to 1970. Improvement in public health promoted in the 1950s played a great role for reducing the mortality rate and improving life expectancy. Consequently, population growth was accelerated, so by the time Mao Zedung died-in 1976, China’s population was approaching 1 billion, and his successors recognized that the country should control the situation. Therefore, they started to implement the policy called one-child policy.
Actually, there were some kinds of family planning policy before the one-child policy.
