1) 법제도

(1) 미국노인법(Older Americans Act: 1965년 7월 14일 제정)

미국노인법은 1965년 7월 14일에 공법 89-73호로 제정되었으며 그후 수차례의 개정에 의하여 오늘에 이르고 있다.
동법은 6장(Title)과 16조(Section)로 구성되어 있으며 그 내용은 다음과 같다.

가. 목적 (Declaration of Objective: Definitions)
① 적절한 수입(An adequate income)
② 신체적 정신적 건강(The best possible physical and mental health)
③ 적합한 주택(Suitable housing)
④ 충만한 회복(Full restorative services)
⑤ 고용기회(Opportunity for employment without age discrimination)
⑥ 명예로운 퇴직(Retirement in health, honor and dignity)
⑦ 의미있는 활동추구(Pursuit of meaningful activity)
⑧ 효율적인 지역사회 서비스(Efficient community services when needed)
⑨ 조사연구에 대한 수당(Immediate benefit from proven research knowledge)
⑩ 자유·독립·개인적 창의력의 자유로운 구사(Freedom, independence and the free exercise of individual initiative)
