The air pollution in Seoul is deadly - literally. Almost 2,000 people die annually of particulate matter, the microscopic particles of soot, in the capital and its vicinity. It was only three weeks ago that the Environment Ministry unveiled the draft of a special law to improve the atmosphere in the metropolitan area. So it is doubly puzzling why the ministry is now moving to allow the manufacture of diesel-fueled passenger cars for domestic sale by sharply lowering the exhaust-gas emission standards.

서울의 대기오염은 문자 그대로 치명적이다. 해마다 거의 2000명의 서울과 수도권 거주자들
이 미립자 물질, 즉 매연의 소립자 물질 때문에 죽어간다. 환경부가 대도시 지역의 대기상태
