소개글
관절질환은 크게 Rheumatoid arthritis와 노화가 진행됨에 따라 동반되는 퇴행성 질환인 Osteoarthritis로 구분된다. 이러한 관절질환은 직접적으로 생명에 지장이 되는 질환은 아니지만 일상 생활에 있어 지장을 주는 질환이며, 많은 환자들이 있기 때문에 지속적으로 관심을 받는 질환들이다. 관절염 치료에 대한 연구의 일환으로, Wnt신호전달이 이들 관절염에 관여한다는 연구결과들이 꾸준히 발표되고 있다.목차

Wnt는 당단백질 중 하나로써 중요한 cell regulation 과정에 관여한다고 알려져 있다. Wnt protein을 통해 이루어지는 Wnt signaling은 cell differentiation, prolifration, cell death, cell development, growth regulation, cellular movement, homeostasis 등 animal cell regulation에 있어서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 여러 가지 regulation 과정에 관여하는 Wnt signaling 조절과정에 있어서 문제가 생길 경우, 여러 가지 질병의 pathogenesis로써 작용할 수있다. Joint를 이루는 주요한 요소들인 chondrocyte, synovial membrane, synoviocyte의 regulation에 Wnt signaling에 중요한 역할을 한다는 연구 결과들이 보고되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 대표적인 Joint disease들에 대해서 Wnt signaling이 미치는 영향에 초점을 두어 지금까지 들의 연구결과들을 정리,고찰 해보고자한다.
결론 및 고찰
지금까지 Wnt signaling이 cartilage와 관련된 질병에 직접적인 원인이 된다는 증거는 나타나지 않았지만 cartilage tissue regulation에 있어서 중요한 역할을 한다는 연구결과는 꾸준히 축적되고 있다. 이 중 일부는 직접적인 pathogenesis와 관련해서 중효한 effertor로써 작용한다는 증거로써 제시되기도 한다. 이미 Wnt signaling은 많은 다른 animal cell regulation과 catrilage tissue의 regulation에 중요한 요소로써 관여함이 밝혀진 상태이며, Wnt signaling이 cartilage disease의 중요한 pathogenesis로써 작용한다고 하여도 놀랄 일이 아닐
