Pronounciation Lesson Plan /ɔ/ vs /ow/
Level : Intermediate
Objective : Students will accurately use /ɔ/ and /ow/ in natural conversation.
Materials : 1. Hook : Pictures “Jhon and Joan have different characteristics.”
-Jhon: Man/glasses/short hair/old/big nose
-Joan: Woman/earrings/long hair/young/big eyes
2. word cards and pictures of lips
A. Perception (5min)
a. hook – Teacher asks about Jhon & Joan, and students answer “yes” or “no” about that question.
Ex) Is “Joan” a woman? (and students will answer “Yes”)/ Does “Jhon” has big eyes? (and students will answer “No”)
b. Teach Placement of sound ( picture )
c. Teach sound discrimination: cot / coat
hop / hope
got / goat
not / note
holly/ holy
1) Teacher way a word – Students indicate the column
2) Students say a word – Teacher indicates the column
B. Production:
1. Controlled Practice: (5min)
Objective: Students will accurately pronounce words containing /ɔ/ and /ow/ to complete same with a speaker
Activity: Same order of words with a speaker
Materials: Word cards (16 words) for each student
