Entrance
BIOSPACE is the company which produces INBODY, a body composition analyzer. When we took this company for mid-term report from Professor, we were so fuzzy because we couldn`t imagine anything from its unfamiliar and embarrassed name, BIOSPACE. We had just assumed that ‘is this a Space biotech company? Or Space Engineering? Or interiors company?’ However we finally noticed after seeing their representative item `INBODY` from web site. Since a few years ago, those electronic medical analyzers are easily seen from various places like health clubs or hospitals and BIOSPACE is the company which produces that analyzer.
Unlike typical knowledge-based industries, Electronic medical device (EMD) industries have some technical barriers to entry because of the thick of a high-tech industry. EMD technology is a complex of medical and engineering technology like electronic engineering, computational engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry and medicine. Therefore about 85% of EMD markets are already occupied by US, Japan, and Germany. Korea`s technology is not developed as much as that country, so it’s not easy to imagine that Korean pins their name on the top of the lank in EMD market....
