"Once liberal arts education is underway, we think they can do or learn how to do almost anything." Discuss it!

우리는 국어 작문, 교양 영어, 수학 및 연습, 물리학 및 실험, 화학 및 실험, 인류학 개론, 심리학 개론 등을 교양 과목이라고 부른다. 이들 과목은 언어, 사회라든지 자연 현상을 그 탐구 대상으로 하며, 탐구 그 자체에 목적이 있다. 이는 컴퓨터 개론, 재료공학 원리 같은 과목이 전문 지식이나 기능의 습득을 그 목적으로 하는 것과 대조된다.

We call these curriculums liberal arts ; Korean composition, College English for Liberal Arts, Mathematics and Practice, Physics and Experiments, Chemistry and Experiments, Introduction to Anthropology, Introduction to Psychology and so on. These curriculums let language, society or natural phenomenon be its subject of study, and the study is the purpose itself. This stands face to face with the fact that the obtaining of the technical skill is the purpose of subjects like Introduction to Computer, Principles of Materials Science and Engineering.
