The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of comprehension-monitoring reading strategies training by think-aloud technique on students` reading proficiency and metacognitive level. The research method is practicing comprehension-monitoring reading strategies training for 20 times. The participants were 1st grade students in a girls` high school. Several meaningful findings were obtained as follows: First, comprehension-monitoring reading strategies training improved students` general metacognitive level except conditional knowledge in metacognition subcategories. Second, comprehension-monitoring reading strategies training improved students` reading proficiency in inference and arranging the order in reading subcategories. Therefore, this research suggests that using comprehensi2won-monitoring reading strategies training makes students recognize their reading comprehension process. (The Kongju National University)
