대진(戴震)의 혈기(血氣)와 심지(心知)의 관계에 관한 연구 - 역학(易學)의 음양(陰陽) 관계를 중심으로 - (A study on the interaction between ‘Flesh and Blood(血氣)’ and ‘The Faculty of the Understanding(心知)’ in Dai Zhen(戴震)’s Thoughts)

초록

본 논문의 목적은 18세기 청대의 철학자 대진(戴震)이 제시한 혈기(血氣)와 심지(心知) 개념의 관계를 ‘역학(易學)에 입각한 기일원론’의 측면에서 분석하는 것이다. 대진은 혈기와 심지는 인간의 본성이며 음양(陰陽)의 기(氣)라는 한 근본에서 나온다고 밝히지만 심지가 어떻게 혈기의 영향을 받으며, 혈기와 심지가 연결되는 작용이 어떻게 일어나는지는 밝히지 않았다. 혈기와 심지의 관계 문제는 기철학과 동아시아 전통사상에서 정신과 물질을 통합적으로 사유하는 방법론이 어떻게 성립될 수 있는지와 결부된다. 혈기와 심지가 모두 기라는 한 근본을 가진다는 명제는 대진 기철학의 토대를 규명하는 문제와도 닿아 있다. 기일원론자들은 역학을 통해 그들의 기철학을 정립한다. 대진의 철학적 특색을 기일원론이라고 정의하려면 그의 사상에서 역학적 사유가 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지를 밝혀야 한다. 본 논문에서는 역학에서 제시하는 음양의 상호작용을 통해 혈기와 심지의 관계를 설명할 수 있다고 본다. 혈기와 심지는 음양의 상호작용 구조에서 하나로 이어진다. 감각적 영역의 지식을 획득하는 일과 정신적 영역의 지식을 획득하는 일은 음양의 상호작용에서 이뤄진다. 혈기와 심지에 관한 대진의 사유는 세계와 사물에 대한 구체적이고 현상적인 인식을 중시하고 신체와 정신을 분리시키지 않는다. 이는 전통적 사유가 외부의 도전에 맞서 자기를 재구성한 결과물이다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between ‘Flesh and Blood(血氣)’ and "The Faculty of the Understanding(血氣)" presented by Chinese philosopher Dai Zhen in terms of ‘Study of Book of Changes(易學)’ in terms of Qi-monism(氣一元論). Dai Zhen says 'Flesh and Blood and 'The Faculty of the Understanding are human nature and come from one root of Yin-Yang's Qi. However, he did not reveal how ‘The Facility of the Understanding’ is influenced by 'Flesh and Blood and how 'Flesh and Blood and "The Facility of the Understanding" are connected. The problem of explaining the relationship between 'Flesh and Blood and "The Faculty of the Understanding" is linked to how Qi-Philosophy and the methodology of thinking across the mind and matter in traditional East Asian ideas can be established. The proposition that both ‘Flesh and Blood’ and ‘The Faculty of the Understanding’ have the basis of Qi is also linked to the question of identifying the foundation of Dai Zhen's Qi-Philosophy. Qi-monists establish their Qi-Philosophy through research and interpretation of the Book of Changes(周易). To define Dai Zhen's philosophical characteristics as Qi-monism, one must reveal how ‘Study of Book of Changes’ influenced his ideas. In this paper, we believe that the relationship between 'Flesh and Blood' and 'The Facility of the Understanding' can be explained through the Yin-Yang interaction presented in mechanics. In Dai Zhen's Qi-Philosophy, 'Flesh and Blood' and 'The Facility of the Understanding' are united in the structure of the Yin-Yang interaction. The acquisition of knowledge of sensory domains and the acquisition of knowledge of mental domains are also accomplished in Yin-Yang's interaction. Dai Zhen’s thoughts on ‘Flesh and Blood’ and ‘The Faculty of the Understanding’ value specific and phenomenal perceptions of the world and things, and do not separate the body from the mind. His ideas are the result of traditional reasons reconstructing himself against external challenges.
