교육부의 유학생 유치확대방안 검토를 통한 경남대 외국인 유학생 현안과 실태연구 (A study on current issues and actual conditions of international students at Kyungnam University through a review of plans to attract international students by the Ministry of Education)

초록

본 연구는 교육부 유학생 유치확대방안 검토를 통해서 경남대학교 외국인 유학생들의 현안과 실태에 대해서 2018학년도 2학기 ‘한국문화의 이해’ 과목을 수강한 외국인 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해서 알아보고자 하였다. 설문조사는 빈도분석기법을 활용하였고, 질문의 주된 내용을 SWOT 분석기법을 통하여 향후 경남대학교의 유학생 유치전략 방향을 설정하는데 활용하고자 함이다. 설문조사의 분석을 바탕으로 경남대학교에서는 대학 특성화를 통한 우수 유학생 유치 확대를 할 수 있도록 지속가능한 유학생 유치 전략을 자체적으로 수립 및 노력이 필요하다. 또한 유치한 유학생들을 위한 글로벌 교육과정 개설 운영 등의 내실화를 다지고, 장학금, 기숙사 등 정주여건 개선에도 최선을 다해야 할 것이다. 외국인 유학생 유치확대전략과 구상의 시대적 요구와 미래를 함께 풀어나가기 위한 일환으로서 이뤄진 본 연구 결과가 전국 대학의 외국인 유학생 유치 전략에 일반화는 어렵겠지만 각 대학이 추구하는 외국인 유학생 유치 전략에 조금이나마 시사점이 되었으면 한다. 그리고 현시점에서 외국인 유학생 유치를 위해 정부나 대학들이 해결해야 할 시사점이 무엇인지를 충분히 검토하고 타당성 있는 연구가 지속되길 제언해 보고자 한다.

영어초록

This study is about current issues and actual conditions of foreign students at Kyungnam University through a review of plans to attract international students by the Ministry of Education and this study was conducted to find out by conducting a questionnaire survey targeting foreign students who took the ‘Understanding Korean Culture’ course in the second semester of 2018.
The questionnaire survey used the frequency analysis method, and the main content of the question is to use the SWOT analysis method to set the direction of Kyungnam University's international student attraction strategy. Based on the analysis of the survey, Kyungnam University needs to establish and endeavor to develop a sustainable strategy for attracting international students in order to expand the attraction of outstanding international students through university specialization. In addition, it will be necessary to strengthen the internalization of the global curriculum for attracted international students, and to do their best to improve the settlement conditions such as scholarships and dormitory. Although the results of this study, which were conducted as part of the expansion of the strategy of attracting foreign students and the needs of the idea and the future, are difficult to generalize to the strategies for attracting foreign students from universities across the country, there are some implications for the strategy of attracting foreign students pursued by each university. And at this point, I would like to thoroughly review what implications the government and universities need to resolve to attract foreign students, and suggest that a valid research will continue.
