근대이행기 부평도호부 읍치의 도로망 특성과 변천 (Characteristics and Changes of Road Networks in the Bupyeong-dohobu Eupchi (富平都護府 邑治) of the Early Modern Period)

초록

조선 후기의 읍치는 행정 및 의례의 중심지였으며, 부평도호부의 읍치는인천시 계양구 계산동에 위치한다. 조선 후기부터 근대이행기까지 부평도호부 읍치의 도로망이 어떻게 변화하였는지를 살펴본 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조선 후기의 부평도호부는 한양, 김포, 안산, 인천 등지와 교통의 결절지로서의 역할을 다하였으나, 경인로가 만들어지면서 부평철도역이 그 역할을대신하였다. 둘째, 부평도호부의 역원취락인 금륜역은 경기도의 중림도에 속한 역으로 고지도에 계속 등장하다가 1871년에 폐지되면서 쇠퇴하였다. 셋째, 부평읍치의 도로망은 조선 후기부터 일제강점기를 거쳐 1960년대까지 큰변화가 없다가, 1990년대 이후 변화되었다. 넷째, 부평도호부 읍치의 옛 도로들 중 향교로, 비석거리, 미륵당로, 샘터로 등이 잘 보존되어 있다. 현재 진행되는 부평도호부 읍치경관의 복원 사업은 이러한 옛 도로망에 대해서도 지역민들의 관심과 이해가 있어야 진정성이 확보될 것으로 생각한다.

영어초록

The township area of late Joseon Dynasty was the center of administrative and rituals, while the township of Bupyeong-dohobu(富平都護府) was located in Gyesan-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. The purpose of this article was to examine how the road network of the township of Bupyeong-dohobu(富平都護府) changed from the late Joseon Dynasty to the modern transition period. For this purpose, the range of road network was set up as a township area, and the period was limited to the period of Japanese colonial rule from the late Joseon Dynasty. The road network of the township of the late Joseon Dynasty was used as the basic data extracted from the ancient map and from the cadastral map created in the 1910s. Through the two maps, the characteristics of the road network of the township of Bupyeong-dohobu in modern transition period are as follows. First, the Bupyeong-dohobu in the late Joseon Dynasty played a role as a nodule for transportation with Hanyang, Gimpo, Ansan and Incheon. However, as the Gyeong-In-road was formed in the early stages of the modern transition period, Bupyeong Station took the place as the centrality of transportation in the township of Bupyeong-dohobu weakened. Secondly, Geumryun-station(金輪驛), the horse-postal station of the Bupyeong-dohobu, continued to appear on old maps as a postal station belonging to Junglim-road system, Gyeonggi-do. This also led to the decline of the Geumryun station. Third, the road network of the township of Bupyeong-dohobu did not change much from the late Joseon period to the Japanese colonial period until the 1960s, but changed greatly after the 1990s. Fourth, the old roads of the township of Bupyeong-dohobu remain relatively more than other areas, such as Hyanggyo-ro(향교로), Biseok-ro(비석로), Mirukdang-ro(미륵당로), Samter-ro(샘터로). Nevertheless, the the road traces disappeared a lot on the main road, Jujaldae-ro(주작대로), I arbitrarily named.
The restoration project of the townscape of Bupyeong-dohobu, which is currently underway, will be secured only if the local people's interest and understanding is concerned about this old road network.
