코로나19가 기업성과에 미치는 연구: 산업별․지역별․기업규모별 중심으로 (A Study on the Impact of Covid 19 on the Firm Performance: Focusing on Industry, Region and Firm size)

초록

코로나19는 글로벌 공급 사슬을 붕괴시키고 세계 각국의 생산 활동을 빠른 속도로 위축시켰으며, 이로인해 전 세계는 코로나19의 감염 및 확산을 막기 위한 공장가동 중단 및 시설폐쇄 조치를 취했다. 이는 기업들의생산 활동이 일시에 중단되는 결과를 낳았다. 세계화된 경제체제 하에서 해외 부품 생산 공장의 가동 중단은국내 완성품 공장의 생산 중단으로 이어졌고, 이는 다른 관계사들의 조업 중단으로 이어지는 연쇄효과가발생하였다. 또한, 국가 간 인적, 물적 교류 제한으로 인한 부품 수급의 악화가 생산 활동의 차질을가중시켰으며, 생산, 소비, 국가 간 교역 등의 경제활동 위축은 우리나라를 비롯한 전 세계 경제를 급속도록악화시키는 영향을 미쳤다. 이번 코로나19로 인해 산업별, 지역별, 기업규모별로 다른 영향을 미쳤을 것이라예상된다. 그리하여 본고에서는 코로나가 기업성과에 대해 미치는 효과가 산업별, 지역별, 기업 규모별로어떠한 영향을 미쳤는가를 분석해 보고자 하였다. 첫째, 본 연구는 최근 코로나19가 가져온 불확실성이 높은경제 상황과 급격하게 악화된 생산 활동하에서 우리나라의 기업들에게 코로나19는 산업별 성과에 영향을미쳤는지 알아보았다. 산업별 분석결과, 건설업, 도매 및 소매업, 숙박 및 음식점업, 운수업(항공운송업 포함), 농업 및 어업, 교육서비스업, 사업시설관리 및 사업지원 서비스업(여행업 포함)이 코로나19 이전과 비교해서이후에 성과가 낮아진 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 유일하게 전기, 가스, 증기 및 수도사업에서는 코로나19 이후에성과가 더 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 코로나19는 지역에 따라 영향을 미쳤을 것이라고 보았다. 그 결과 지역에서는충남, 부산, 대구, 경남, 광주, 전남에서 기업성과(ROA)가 코로나19 이전보다 코로나19 팬데믹 이후에기업성과가 나빠진 것으로 나타났다. 나머지 지역은 차이가 없는 것으로 분석되었고, 코로나19 이후에 성과가높아진 지역은 한 곳도 없었다. 셋째, 조직역량은 기업전략을 촉진 및 지원하는 특성을 가지고 있으며지속가능한 성공을 보장하는 주요요소이다. 이는 대기업과 중소기업에 따라 다를거라고 생각되며 코로나19와같은 위기시에는 더욱 차이가 있을거라고 보았다. 따라서 한국적 특수성에 기반한 조직의 시스템적 체계가코로나19시에는 기업규모에 따라 조직성과에 있어 어떻게 다른지 실증 분석하여 밝히고자 하였다. 기업 규모분석결과는 대기업에서 코로나19 이후에 성과가 더 낮아진 것으로 나왔다. 반면 중소기업에서는 코로나19 이전과 이후에 성과 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

Risks arising from accidental and external environmental factors are very difficult to predict.
Therefore, there is a limit to preventing or suppressing the occurrence of a risk. Ultimately, how to manage risk when it occurs is important to minimize the damage of risk. Now, in an interconnected business environment, a company’s competitiveness and success no longer depend solely on its own performance. Therefore, the importance of efficient use of up-to-date information on the rapidly changing environment and the ability to respond quickly is increasingly emphasized in business management. Taking full advantage of agility is a way for a company to secure a sustainable competitive advantage while maintaining differentiated competitiveness. Environmental uncertainty changes the dynamics of competition and internal capabilities of an organization, and causes a gap between information already known and newly requested information.
Therefore, managers need more monitoring to close the information gap when uncertainty increases.
Corona 19 has disrupted the global supply chain and has rapidly shrunk production activities in countries around the world, which has resulted in the world taking measures to halt factory operations and close facilities to prevent the infection and spread of COVID-19. This resulted in the temporary suspension of production activities of enterprises. Under the globalized economy, the shutdown of overseas parts production plants led to the shutdown of domestic finished product plants, which had a chain effect that led to the shutdown of other affiliated companies. In addition, the deterioration of parts supply and demand due to restrictions on human and material exchanges between countries aggravated the setbacks in production activities. Therefore, it is expected that the impact of the COVID-19 depends on the industries, regions, and firm size. Therefore, this paper intends to contain the following contents. First, this study investigated whether COVID-19 had a different effect on the performance(ROA) of each industry for Korean companies under the economic situation with high uncertainty brought about by COVID-19. Second, I thought that COVID-19 would have had an different impact depending on the region. Last organizational competency has the characteristics of promoting and supporting corporate strategy and is a key factor in ensuring sustainable success. It is thought that this will be different for large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises, and it is expected that there will be even more differences in times of crisis such as COVID-19.
Therefore, we would like to clarify and empirically analyze how the organizational system based on Korean specificity differs in organizational performance depending on the size of the company during COVID-19.
As a result of industry-specific analysis, construction, wholesale and retail, lodging and restaurants, transportation (including air transport), agriculture and fishery, education service, business facility management and business support service (including travel) appeared to be lower after the COVID-19 pandemic than before COVID-19. However, only the electricity, gas, steam and water businesses performed better after COVID-19. In the regional analysis, it was found that corporate performance (ROA) in Chungnam, Busan, Daegu, Gyeongnam, Gwangju, and Jeonnam was worse after the COVID-19 pandemic than before COVID-19. The rest of the regions were analyzed as having no difference, and there was no region where performance improved after COVID-19. The results of the firm size analysis showed that the performance of large companies was lower after COVID-19. On the other hand, there was no difference in performance between SMEs before and after COVID-19.
