드라마 <백일의 낭군님> 영상 색의 기호학적 해석 (A Semiotic Analysis of the Video Color in <100 Days My Prince>)

초록

본 연구는 조선시대를 배경으로 하는 2018 한국의 픽션 사극 드라마 <백일의 낭군님>에서, 영상 색이 스토리 내에서 기호로서 그 의미, 상징들을 어떻게 사용하였는지 알아보는 것을 연구 목적으로 한다. 연구 방법으로, 칸딘스키의 색채 언어, 한국 전통색의 의미, 허버트 제틀의 색 에너지 이론을 바탕으로, 롤랑바르트의 신화체계 모형을 사용하여 분석하였고, 색의 삼속성인 색상·채도·명도 별 사용특성과 인물· 사건· 배경 간의 연관 관계를 파악하고 기호학적으로 해석하였다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 드라마 <백일의 낭군님>에서 색상은 인물의 옷, 소품, 배경에서 역할, 정서, 미래 예감, 행사 등의 의미를 표현하였다. 색이 서술적 역할을 할 때, 같은 색상이라도, 함께 사용된 배경 색, 인물의 역할 등과관련하여 크게 긍정적, 부정적의미로 구분되어 표현되기도 하였다. 채도는 저채도, 고채도 scene을 번갈아 표현하면서 극적인 장면을 고조시키거나 인물의 옷에서 권력의 유무, 해당 인물의 역할을 표현하였고, 배경에서 해당 장소에서 활약하는 인물의 정서를 표현하였다. 명도는 scene의 전반적인 이미지를 결정지으며 사건, 인물의 역할과 정서를 표현하였다. 배경의 명도는 인물의 정서, 해당 장소로 온사건의 의미를 표현하였다. 채도, 명도의 서술적 역할은 크게 궁 밖과 궁 안을 나누어 인물과 사건에대하여, 밝고 평범함과, 어둡고 침울함을 대립시켜 표현하였다. 전체적으로 현대색의 의미가 전통색의의미보다 더 보편적인 감성으로 많은 부분에 사용되었고, 스토리 안에서 색의 의미를 선택적으로 사용하였음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 각기 다른 현대 색의 의미와 전통색의 의미들을 어떻게 적용 하였는지 분석한 것으로서, 우리의 색의 시대적 인지 방법과 역사적 사실의 인지법이 다르다는 점은 연구한계가 될 것이다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the meaning and symbols of the image color were used as symbols in the story in the 2018 Korean fiction drama <100 Days My Prince>, which is based on the Chosun Dynasty. As a research method, based on Kandinsky's color language, the meaning of Korean traditional colors, and Herbert Zettl's color energy theory, the mythical system model of Roland Barthes was used to analyze the relationship between the characteristics of color, chromaticity, and brightness, which are the three attributes of color, and the relationship between characters, events, and backgrounds was semiotically interpreted. The conclusion is as follows: In the drama <100 Days My Prince>, the color expressed the meaning of the character’s clothes, props, role in the background, emotion, future forebodings, and events.
When color played a narrative role, even the same color was expressed in a positive and negative sense in relation to the background color used together and the role of the person. The saturation increased dramatic scenes by alternating low chroma and high chroma screens, expressed the presence of power in the clothes of the characters and the role of the characters, and expressed the emotions of the characters who are active in the background. The brightness of the background expressed the role and emotion of the events and characters, determining the overall image of the scene, and the brightness of the background expressed the emotion of the characters and the meaning of the events that came to the place. The narrative role of saturation and brightness was largely divided into the outside of the palace and the inside of the palace, expressing bright, ordinary, dark, and somber colors about the characters and events. Overall, the meaning of modern color was used in many parts with a more universal sensibility than the meaning of traditional color, and the meaning of color was selectively used in the story. This study analyzed how different meanings of modern colors and traditional colors were applied, so the limitations of this study are that the cognitive methods of our colors and the cognitive methods of historical facts will be different.
