경성제국대학 일본어잡지 『청량(清涼)』발간과 초기 작품 연구 :1920년대 재조일본인 학생의 글에 나타난 <조선>상을 중심으로 (A Study on Publishing 『Cheong-Ryang』 the Japanese-language Literary Magazines of Keijo Imperial University and These Early Works of Literature)

초록

본 논문은 1924년에 개교한 경성제국대학 예과에서 1925년에 발간된 최초의 공식 일본어 잡지인 『청량』에 대해 살펴보는 글이다. 개교 1주년을 기념하여 1925년 5월 18일에 제1호를 낸 『청량』은 30호(1941)까지 발행되어 16년간 경성제국대학의 주요 잡지로서 역할을 담당하였다. 『청량』은 문예잡지의 성격을 뛰어넘는 종합잡지의 성격을 지녔으며 문예란 이외에도 여러 학교 소식을 전하였다.
경성제국대학은 식민지에 세우는 최초의 제국대학이라는 점 때문에, 설립 당시부터 잡음이 많았다. 조선인에 의한 민립대학 설립의 움직임이 있었지만, 일제가 기존에 논의되던 식민지 제국대학 설립의 논의를 3⋅1운동 이후에 ‘문화통치’ 정책의 연장선상으로서 조선제국대학 창립위원회를 설립하고 ‘제국’의 대학으로 설립하기에 이른다. 이러한 배경은 『청량』이 공식 잡지이자 필진과 편집위원이 조선인⋅일본인이 공동으로 참여한 ‘내선’학우회 잡지임에도 불구하고 점차 조선인 학생의 참여비중이 줄어드는 원인의 하나가 되었다. 이밖에도 『청량』이 불완전한 ‘내선’학우회잡지가 될 수밖에 없었던 이유로, 편집후기에도 확인할 수 있듯이 조선인과 일본인이 생각하는 잡지의 지향점에 ‘균열’이 있었던 것. 더불어 경성제국대학이 위치한 조선이라는 장소를 표상하는 방법에 드러나는 두 민족 학생들의 시선에도 또한 균열이 있었던 점을 들 수 있다.
이러한 균열은, 조선인과 재조선일본인이라는 구성원을 가진 경성제국대학의 학생들이, ‘내지(內地)’일본에 있는 학생들과 교류하고 싶다는 공통적인 욕망을 가지고 있으면서도, 정작 같은 잡지에서조차 ‘조선’을 바라보는 서로 다른 시각에 의해 결국 『청량』이라는 잡지에서 동상이몽의 모습을 보여주게 되는 결과를 낳게 되었다. 같은 교수의 밑에서 일본어라는 공용어로 공부를 하고, 또한 조선인과 일본인의 엘리트 학생 집단이라는 공통점으로 뭉친 구성원을 가지고 있다는 점에서 융화의 가능성을 보여주는 측면도 있지만, 한국어 잡지의 창간과 『청량』 후기(後期)의 조선인 집필진 수의 감소는 한계성 또한 여실히 보여주고 있었다.

영어초록

This paper is a piece of writing which examines 『Cheong-ryang』, the official Japanese-language magazine which was first published by Keijo Imperial University in 1925. Keijo Imperial University was first opened in 1924. 『Cheong- ryang』 which published the first issue on May 18th, 1925 to celebrate of the 1st anniversary of its founding got to play the role as the major magazine of Keijo Imperial University for 16 years until the 30th issues were published in the checked data. 『Cheong-ryang』 had the characteristics of the general magazine which surpassed the features of the literary magazine and broke the several school news with the literature part.
There were a lot of noise in the Keijo Imperial University since it was founded because of the point that it is the first imperial university established in colony. There was a sign of establishment of a private university by a Korean. However, Japan established the organizing committee of Joseon Imperial University through discussion of establishment of the Colonial Imperial University which had been done before in a continuation of the <cultural rule> policy since the March Fist Independence Movement and got to do the university of <the Empire>. This background became one of the causes that Korean students’ participation in the magazine gradually reduced despite 『Cheong-ryang』 was the student union magazine that Korean and Japanese students jointly participate in the official magazine as the writing staffs and editors. Except this, 『Cheong-ryang』 could not helping being the incomplete student union magazine because there were cracks in the aims that Korean and Japanese students thought of and the different viewpoints which showed in the methods to express the place of Joseon that Keijo Imperial University was located in as shown in the editors’ comments.
These different viewpoints resulted in showing the different purposes in the magazine, 『Cheong-ryang』 due to the different perspectives to look at ‘Joseon’ even in the same magazine with the common desire that the students in the Keijo Imperial University which consists of the Korean students and the Japanese students who lives in Korea wanted to make an exchange with the students in Japan. The aspect about the possibility of harmony was shown in the magazine in that they studied under the same professors with an official language called Japanese and the Korean and Japanese elite student groups were composed as the common ground. However, foundation of Korean magazines and reduction of the number of Korean writing staffs in the late 『Cheong-ryang』 clearly show the limit.
