The purpose of this study was to identify the conception and misconceptions on the biological classification among the levels of the elementary students grades. For this study, the multiple choice and writing the reason form of questionnaire consisted of 12 items on the biological classification was developed and administered to 703 elementary students. The results of this study are as follows : 1. Higher graders have more precise conceptions of the biological classification. 2. Elementary student`s misconceptions of the biological classification was like as `Animals breath, but plants don`t breath`. Barley is a flowering plant`. `Snakes are invertebrates`. Dolphins are fishes`. `Snake are not reptiles because they give birth to their posterity`. `Bats are birds`. `Penguins are not birds`. `Human are not mammals but independent creatures`. 3. They have many troubles in conceptions of the classification between dicotyledons and monocotyledons and classification of the fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals in the vertebrate.
