There are a lot of words of foreign origin in Japanese and Korean. However, there is much difference between Japanese language and Korean language in phoneme. Korean learners have difficulty in learning ‘Katakana’ pronunciation.When we express ourselves in words of foreign origin, it is difficult for us to understand each other. We often misunderstand the meaning, because of ‘katakana’, although we use the same words. We often see the difference of ‘Katakana’ when we travel in Korea.The purpose of this study is to investigate how the words of foreign origin change in sound, both in Korean language and Japanese language. To avoid causing misunderstandings, this paper will demonstrate a strategy of using Japanese ‘katakana’ from a Japanese pronunciation point of view.
