대학생의 비평 글쓰기와 창의적 역사의식 함양 사례 연구 - 2018년 1학기 인천대학교의 <글쓰기 이론과 실제> 수업을 중심으로 -

이 글의 목적은 대학 정규 교과 과정에서 시행한 비평 글쓰기의 사례를 통해 대학생들이 교양의 차원에서 인문학적 소양을 함양할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 이 글에서 분석의 대상으로 삼고 있는 비평 글쓰기는 2018년 1학기 인천대학교에서 시행한 <글쓰기 이론과 실제> 수업에서 실습한 것이다. 수강생들은 일본의 대표적인 애니메이션 감독인 미야자키 하야오(宮崎駿)의 작품 중 가장 자전적인 성격을 띠면서 드물게 역사적인 사건을 다루고 있는 『붉은 돼지』 (1992)를 시청하고 이에 대한 비평 글쓰기를 작성한 결과 다음과 같은 측면을 보여주고 있다. 먼저, 영화의 배경이 되고 있는 제1차 세계대전과 파시즘에 대한 감독의 반전의식을 읽어내는 것에서 나아가 집단 이데올로기 자체를 경계하고 주체적인 개인의 상(像)을 모색하고 있다. 다음으로, 영화에 등장하는 당대성 역할에 대한 고정관념과 남성우월주의의 시선을 비판하는 것에서 나아가 유연한 젠더의식을 모색하고 올바른 성 평등의식을 확립하고 있다. 이런 점에서 『붉은 돼지』를 둘러싼 비평 글쓰기는 과거의 객관적 사실로 존재하는 역사가 아니라 현재의 상황에서 개개인의 해석에 따라 재탄생하는 역사를 다루고 있다는 점에서 창의적인 역사의식을 보여준다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 비평 글쓰기는 다양한 미디어와 연계하여 과거와 현재, 동시대의 환경과 상호작용하는 계기를 마련한다는 점에서 대학생들의 인문학적 소양을 함양하는데 적극적으로 활용될 수 있다.

영어 초록

The purpose of the article is to find ways for university students to foster humanistic attitudes at the level of culture through critical writing in the university’s regular curriculum. The critical writing was practiced in ‘Theory and Practice of Writing’ Class in the first semester of 2018 at Incheon National University. The students in the class watched the red pig(1992), the most autobiographical as well as rarely dealing with a historical event among Miyazaki Hayao's works, and wrote a critical response to the movie. The students’ writings showed the following: First, the students have identified the director's anti-war sentiment on World War I and Fascism, which was the background to the movie, and went further to seek for a self-contained image of the individual being wary about collective ideology. Next, students criticized the stereotype of contemporary gender roles from the movie and the gaze of male chauvinism, and went further to find a flexible approach to gender consciousness and to establish a sense of correct gender equality. In this regard, the critical writing of the red pig offers to develop creative historical awareness in that it is about the history being recreated according to individual interpretations in current situations rather than about the history existing as objective facts in the past. Therefore, critical writing can be used actively to foster humanistic attitudes of university students in that it provides an opportunity to interact with contemporary environments including past and present.
