한국어 초록

그동안 신자유주의적 기조를 갖는 교육개혁 방식에 대한 비판이 많았다. 그러한 방식에 의한 교육계의 변화가 학생들의 깊은 학습을 보장하지 못하고 학교조직과 교원들에게 심각한 부작용을 남긴다는 것이다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위한 대안 모색의 하나로 비교적 최근에 지속가능성 개념에 의존한 논의들이 이루어지고 있다. 이 논문은 이러한 연구경향을 배경으로 하여 ‘지속가능한 교육발전’의 의미와 원리를 밝히고 있다. ‘지속가능한 교육발전’은 연구의 활성화가 요청되는 주제로서, 관련 연구의 기초가 될 의미와 원리를 밝히는 것은 의의가 클 것으로 보인다. 지속가능성의 개념과 지향이 무엇인지와 교육발전에 있어서 지속가능성 문제가 어떤 맥락에서 나타나게 되었는지를 먼저 다루고, 이어서 지속가능한 교육발전의 의미와 원리를 탐색한다. 지속가능한 교육발전의 개념 정의와 그것에 대한 분석적 설명이 이루어지고 있고, 지속가능한 교육발전의 기본 속성이자 실천적 지침이라 할 수 있는 여섯 가지의 원리가 제시되고 있다.

영어 초록

This article is to explore the meaning and principles of the sustainable educational
development. The sustainability has emerged as a substantial issue for the successful
and enduring educational development, which is learned from the repeated failures
in the educational reforms. In many cases of previous or ongoing reforms the
educational ecosystems have been damaged, and schools had lost the virtues as a
community, which led to the decrease of their internal vitality in the school
organizations.
Acknowledging the sustainability is urgent for the genuine educational
development, the foundations of the sustainable educational development are
established through reviewing the ideas and discourses of the authors who dealt
with the similar themes and concerns. The sustainable educational development is
the continuing educational improvement in which they make all equitably enjoy the
opportunity of growth through the genuine learning, conserving and improving the
resources and environments for the education now and in the future. The six
principles of the sustainable educational development have been drawn as the norms
and guides for fulfilling the sustainable improvement of education. The principles are
as follows; the integrity of educational outcomes, the continuity over time, the
sufficiency in human and material resources, the self-initiated vitality, the value-based
orientation, and justice.
